Its not a matter of DVD unit, but of how you are connecting it to your computer. Is it USB 1.1? USB 2.0 or Firewire (1394)?

For best results go with Firewire, the next best thing would be USB 2.0 - some people might say its better than Firewire - and they are right if you only consider throughput, but what they are not considering is that if you plug in a USB 1.1 device, the whole HUB will downgrade all transmissions to support that device (making your USB 2.0 device work as a 1.1 one).
