You certainly can. Just a suggestion, but if you have a lot of them throughout your app or can see the need for this across apps, you might want to consider subclassing the control and creating a little method to handle all of the dirty details.

In fact, then you could implement my, Eric's, or any other technique that you want to make the control "truely read-only" and only have to change subclassed control.
