Messages in this thread directly violate UT's rules. Could not find the formal complaint process, so I have CC'd all in this thread and am sending one to Michel. UT staff, this is unacceptable and I expect it to be addressed.

>Never, in the history of the Americas has a U.S. president been so reviled by the rest of the world, including in the U.K. with it’s special relationship. Reelecting Bush sends a clear message to the rest of the world: “We the American public endorse our President in ignoring International Law, acting unilaterally and in general adopting a me-first attitude”.

>In his last debate he did appear to answer one question correctly - do you think gay people are making a choice to be gay. He actually started his answer with "I don't know". This earned Mr. President a small number of positive points for being honest, probably for the first time. Alas his desire to protect us all from "gay marriage" can now be clearly seen to be based on (from his own mouth) the absence of knowledge. Which leads one to wonder what his motivation really is - I'm tempted to jump to the conclusion that it is narrow-minded bigotry.

>The completely inane nature of the question can be more readily seen if it were recast as “do black people choose to be black”. Mr. President’s answer “I don’t know. But let me add I have introduced policies and spent 1.3 million dollars… blah, blah, blah.”

>It’s ironic but for the sake of just a smidgen of world peace, Bush needs to be kicked out of the Whitehouse.

>I actually know several people that are either (bitterly) divorced with estranged kids and yet hold marriage up on a pedestal as something special that warrants a constitutional amendment, or are really pro life at one end (because life is so sacrosanct) but are happy to support the death penalty and thousands dying for oil at the other end – this kind of hypocrisy is very hard to swallow – it is one thing to be ignorant, it is entirely different to “choose to be defiantly ignorant and be unwilling to listen to reason”.

>And what about the overseas outsourcing answer – community college. If the question had been worded properly; “What do you have to say to the person with a two year old masters degree in computing, 80k in student loans that has just lost his job to a $5 an hour person in Mumbai”. A community college answer would have had me performing an introduction between the Presidential jaw and a very tightly clenched fist!

>The President is an imbecile and listening to (or reading) support from his apologists makes me want to vomit. I am all in favour of low taxation and small government – you have to wonder what happened to the Republican Party agenda.
