You could disable the screensaver before you start your process.

I know this slows things down but when I'm updating a million+ records it's nice know where you are in the process. If I leave the computer for a while and the screen saver comes on the record count freezes - even after the FoxPro screen is restored after the screen saver mode end (wakes up). The update is still running in the backgound but the record count does not change.
