If you have WinZip 9.0 there is an add on tool that you can use to zip from a command lines. I run this tool from within VFP to zip files all the time. Here is what a command might look like:

run /n "c:\program files\winzip\wzzip" -rp -x*.bak -x*.fxp "c:\Backup\TestFolder.zip" "d:\testbackup\*.*"
