Um, yeah, I could go buy a new laptop for $2500 (plus a docking station). Or I could go buy a new desktop for $1000. And in three years, I can go do the same thing again. (Or I could buy a laptop on EBay for less, but I can also buy a desktop on ebay for less.)
I'm not convinced the extra cost of the laptop is worth the money. But I'm not willing to give up the flexibility the laptop provides. I'm looking for a third option.
My thought was to have an external harddrive. All of my development, data, my Outlook postoffice, etc. would live on the external. VFP is installed on the desktop and the laptop. I'd do most of my work on a new desktop connected to the external. When needed, I'd take my old laptop and the external drive to use when I had to go to a client.
Anybody doing anything like that? Would that even work?
