Remember the last president who couldn't pronounce the word correctly was a nukular engineer :-) Jimmy was a good example of why it is a good idea to have a President who is more concerned with America's security than the approval of the kakistocracy that runs the UN. We know now from the memoirs of the students who were there that originally the Tehran embassy take over was supposed to last for a couple of days, but when I figured out Carter was toothless and inept they decided to milk it for all it was worth - and then ended it when Reagan came in because they knew he wasn't Carter.

When the Khomenei people seized the Iranian Embassy in London I was sitting in a bar watching TV news with a guy from MI 6. He said "Ah, Maggie will send the hard men now." Within 24 hours, I believe, SAS blew out the walls with shaped charges and retook the embassy. Hostage crisis over.

Well, even though you're wrong about the Kerry/Bush thing ;-) I gotta figure you for a wise man as you quote from Babylon 5. Throw in some wisdom from the Slayer and you may convert me to the liberalism of my youth ( in '64-'68 I would have seen Howard Dean as a right wing fascist oppressor. ) I actually started to get kind of nostalgic while watching the antics of posturing clowns like Michael Moore and MoveOn.org. I kept waiting for somebody to resurrect the old slogan from the Symbionese Liberation Army
"Death the the Fascist Insect that preys on the life of the people!"

Now I guess I'm some sort of P.J O'Rourke republican - or maybe it's just I think Ann Coulter is kind of hot.

(BTW - how do you get the s in arrow brackets like we used on CIS? I keep getting it rejected as they say it is a formatting tag or something???) TIA

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
