Thanks Kevin.

I created the specified directory and moved northwind to it.

My machine is much newer than the customers I support. It's a P4-3Ghz, 1GB RAM, Dell portable, data on local drive (obviously).

My response times were:

1-2 seconds first time launch.
Reasonably fast interface behaviour, sub 1 second. (Not snapping like my other [VFP] apps, but not watching slow screen painting either.)
When relaunching app 2nd and 3rd time, it comes up almost instantly.

I know the real question is "how fast is this on older hardware?" But I don't have an older machine in the office right now that I can test with.
