Rod,

>>A lot of people have downloaded it and reported their results. Have you had a chance to look at it yet ?

Remember it is tomorrow morning before 9am here- no I have not had a good look at it yet and have meetings between now and midday... but promise I will get back to you before 4am your time!

I'm sure we agree this is just the start. The premise is that WinForms have performance issues in a VFP context. If we ignore the startup time, I'm fairly sure this display demo will be OK on computers used by this audience- it would have been in Java 1.0 and VFP3 as well, and it looks just like that infamous paradox demo for the version whose performance was dismal. What we will need to do is create a VFP version as well for reference, then keep adding "normal" UI features until differences become apparent. Then we can document them and find workarounds and/or advise MS just like we did with VFP3.

Maybe somebody who enjoys writing papers can turn this into a cool story- a motley crew of VFP and ex-VFP developers undertook a review of WinForms and here is what they determined?!

Regards

yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
