I'd have to say I was fairly amazed at your good performance using dotNET on a 64meg machine!

For Rod Paddock: Thanks for such a good sample. Thanks for not producing a sample like those contrived ones we used to see for Powerbuilder and Paradox. If one had to create a "typical" database app, this would be a great start. Bravo.

Clean boot
Processes running=Norton Antivirus, Zonealarm pro, i8kfangui

- 15 sec load first time
- Slight paint issue seen first time as Grid starts to display- not a problem
- Customer selection- about 1 sec first time, then very quick
- Order display- 1.5 sec first time, then very quick
- Overall: Once loaded, performance is very acceptable.

Clean boot
Processes running=Norton Antivirus, Zonealarm pro, i8kfangui, Mailwasher Pro
Apps open=West Wind Web server instance, Outlook 2000, UT Browser instance, VFP development instance, Excel 2000 instance, Windows Explorer instance

- 20 sec load first time, 6 secs 2nd time, then about 1 sec
- Marked paint issue seen first time- 1st line of grid loads, 1/2 sec pause, then second line, pause, then all grid.
- Customer selection- 9 seconds first time, then quick
- Order display- 2 secs first time, then quick
- Overall: initial load times will be too slow for many users. Paint issue visible first time. Once loaded, performance is very acceptable.

FWIW, the second scenario is designed to be similar to what I would expect from a customer, though they'd have Word open as well(!) and a huge wallpaper picture of a princess in a castle protected by a dragon. ;-)

Impression: Load times seem slow. My customers would complain. Otherwise performance is not bad and presumably would be much better on a machine with an extra 256K RAM. I'll check at the W/E. IMHO this is a good start to "track down" performance issues.
