I've got a very data intensive application that pulls in flat files into a VFP database. The VFP tables are indexed and the app is optimized.
This is an automation app that is supposed to run and run. At the present time it is being stopped and started on a daily basis.

The machine is a Dell dual processor (yes, I know VFP doesn't use dual procs, but I wasn't in charge of the purchase) running Server 2003. I don't know what SP is on it because I don't really have a lot of access. The machine has SCSI drives and 1GB of RAM.

Again, if I was in charge I would have put VFP on a cheap single proc box running Win2000 or Win XP Pro.

But, the problem is the performance is dragging. You go into Task Manager and there's plenty of memory on the machine and not much other than the VFP app running. But, looking at the Processes VFP is using less than 10% of the CPU.

Any ideas?

I had this app running on my homebrew single proc machine XP Pro with 1.3GB ram and it sucked the CPU dry when running hard.

One thing I did on the Server 2003 machine is set the Perf settings to favor applications, but I'm waiting until our data person can reboot to put that into action. If that fixes it then I'm wasting this post, but is less than 10% of CPU reasonable regardless of how the OS is configured? And Idle is 90% and above.
