If their network has a domain controller, and your users messing up the client computer settings then you can set a domain/local policy where in you can set that they cannot change the settings of their computer, e.g. ip address, computer names and even install/uninstall software/printer or hardware.

Now for registry changes, if the client computers are member of a domain controller, you must have and administrative rights in order to do this functions, even in your scripts. If a logon users dont have administrative rights, then it could be a problem. Let say your program has detected that the computer settings has been changed, then probably you have a function that change it automatically without end user interaction. If the function fails, it could signal an alert informing the user where in the user might dont know what is happening.

Better if your Customers system administrator has setup a security policy on their network.

Just like the other member says, make sure that changing computer names will not affect their network..
