On the computer that was accessing the "network" printer, the port was set to lpt1. It should be set to the printer server name.

The problem was this computer's lpt1 does not have any printer attached to it; so it gave the "Error accessing printer spool" error message and when clicked "ignore", it went ahead and printed to the default printer, which is the shared printer on the other machine.
