Don't appologize for that - so did I, it's not such a big deal :).
One thing suprised me recently: I found that there are two "can" verbs, "can" and "can". Pronounced the same, spelled the same, but people still distinguish them flawlessly, without any exception, which is as close to a miracle as it gets.
How do I know these are actually two verbs? Simply, they have different conjugations. If they didn't, we would have "could fish" instead of "canned fish".
