Exactly. I tried that before suggesting, Michel.
The issue is a simple one... I'd like some degree of CONTROL over how/when I view forums' messages so that I am fully aware of where I am at any given time.

That control existed in the the discontinued feature. It is gone now. I'd like something that at least approximates it.
