First, let me say I prefer the way it used to be with a combo box to select forum at the top. I monitor the VFP forum regularly and I didn't see any notification that things would change, otherwise I would have weighed in earlier.

If we're going to stay this way, I basically want UT to come up, for me, with the VFP forum fully expanded, and other forums I have marked for participation as collapsed "stubs" at the very bottom of the list. This would be easy to define by simply adding another column to the Forum setup screen in Account Setup e.g. "Expand messages in this forum by default". If you're imposing this change on everyone with what could be considered insufficient notice I think it would be a nice gesture to make this proposed feature available to everyone.

In my case, if this feature was implemented then all VFP-forum message headers would be downloaded, and none for the other forums because I would choose to have them collapsed.

I don't really understand your proposal but you seem to be proposing a child form of the existing Forum setup form which I don't see as being necessary for myself.
