Hi Bonnie,

I'd like to have independent counts of new nessages by forum too.

Just thinking out loud here... I visualize that a number beside each forum header in the upper frame would go a long way on this.

This issue does bring up a **potential** problem (I'll have to play and see if it is a real issue) that the individual forums' 'new messages' count might be reset to zero EVEN IF I CHOOSE NOT TO EXPAND A FORUM **THIS** TIME.
In other words, when I login to UT I sure hope that messages in all forms are NOT considered as viewed (possibly not 'read') if I do not expand that forum's content.

UPDATE: I just closed UT seeing that there were messages (UNexpanded) in my selected .NET and VB forums. Then I logged back in and these forums had DISAPPEARED in the upper frame INDICATING THAT IT ASSUMED I HAD VIEWED THEM!!! I hadn't, and don't think they should have disappeared on me.

cheers

>You said that one of the changes you would implement would be a button or something that would enable one to get the New messages for other forums. IOW, if I set "Enable for reading new messages" in the Forum settings to only one of my 4 subscribed-to forums, then the New messages icon will only reflect when there are new messages for that one forum and that there will be some other way to determine the new messages for the other forums.

>Right now it seems that the "Enable for reading new messages" seems to work ok, but whatever happened to the rest of it? I see no new buttons for retrieving other new messages. Have you not implemented this yet?

>And I don't know if a button would work anyway ... this is kinda what Dave was getting at when he mentioned 4 new buttons. A combo sounds like a much better idea (which, incidentally, sounds like the way you had it before <g>). Would one button get New messages for *all* the other forums I'm subscribed to? I wouldn't want this kind of behavior (and neither, apparently, does Dave) ... I'd want to be able to choose from which of my other forums to get new messages from. Does that make sense?

>>>I don't think I like the idea of having 4 new buttons? 1,2,3 and 4 for my primary forums. and a 1,2,3,4 for my secondary forums? I also don't like the thought of having to respond to some other confirmation popup that I saw in the other thread.
>>
>>I really have no idea what you are talking about. Can you explain me more about that?
>>
>>>Ok, I misspoke on this one. It looks like I'm actually subscribed to like 10 forums and those were on the cbo not all of the forums. I guess the other forums don't show under the new scheme if here are no posts in the forum.
>>
>>Ok, this might have been a bug. I never verified that but it seems the filter was never applied on that list.
