I notice that when I do "? chr(147)" from the command prompt, I get a lower case 'o' with circumflex on my VFP screen. However, I have a built-in facilty in my app for people to select 'foreign' characters and lower case 'o' with circumflex is chr(244).

Do you think that replacing the EDS_TEXT_BADCHARS in your suggestion will impact my foreign characters?

I certainly will impliment the STRTRAN() as per your suggestion, as well as Dragan's suggestion for drag and drop.
