The same could be said of any country I think. Look at Iraq - according to the PBS show about Dick Rumsfeld last week - initially about 50% of their people initially viewed the U.S as liberators - that figure is now less than 2% - which would explain the ever expanding death toll os U.S. troops.
So, it now appears that most of Iraq - including the terrorists who like to remove people from their heads - are on the same side. And that is scary.
