Mixed about 70/30 right now in the upper and lower ranks. Most are like your ex-SF friend - Republicans on steriods! :0) Mostly because of the Reagan years and what he did for the military and the almost depletion of miltiary assets during the Clinton years. Many don't see it and will argue it nonstop but I saw the lack of training and equipment due to lack of funds during the clinton administration. There is a growing number of Democrats though but not because of the war-it has more to do with benefits for lower income people since as you know the majority of the lower ranks in the military fall into that category. In the middle ranks it is closer 60/30/10 (10 is Libertarians and others). However, the lower ranks do tend to forget that they do get free medical from the military which the average U.S. citizen does not get. By the way, I would have absolutely no problem with free medical (Oh my gosh, did I say social welfare?) for all Americans if all Americans served at least two years in the military. We could easily do it if we cut out foreign aid and some of the other non-essential stuff our taxes pay for. Oh no, here I go again, cut taxes! cut taxes!

>>It could all be balderdash, I don't know. There is not any evidence one way or the other. It is being circulated in military circles right now so soon it will be totally discounted or substantiated. We'll see.

>Good points. I don't have any contact with military personnel right now, other than a guy who is ex special forces and he is a Republican on steroids. What is the general consensus of those who have served in Iraq, from your perspective?
