Of course you are free to express whatever opinion you like, just as someone who has never written a line of code is free come into a technical discussion and say Access is superior to SQL Server because he saw it on TV. I was responding to a remark you made about the lack of democracy in my country. I really felt the idea had no merit and said so. I meant my remark only as a suggestion that if you are going to speak with such authority on this subject you should probably expect someone will take exception. <s>

>>Walter, you really should stick to technical areas where you have some expertise and credibility. I am not defending a nationalist or jingoistic position but this is just silly.

The point is I might have a standpoint that makes sense from an european perspective that is totally foreign to most US citizens. You can ignore the point, that is your choice, but don't tell me what I should think or do. It will harden my standpoint even more.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
