>In order to find potential customers which is better : In person or by phone

If it's FINDING potential customers - that seems more like marketing and there are a zillions ways to approach that.

Once you've found a potential customer and it's time to talk to them - I'd say it depends on where they're at and where you're at. For example, if your in FL and the potential customer is in CA, do you really want to leave the office for a couple of days just to meet with them if they're just a 'potential' customer? Hey - we live in the age of the internet - spend a few bucks and get yerself a nice webcam then get netmeeting or camfrog or eyeballchat or one of the other zillion videochat programs out there.

As far as how long to wait before contacting them again if they were not interested the first time - I usually call those people 2 or 3 times a year just to see how they're doing and make sure they don't forget I exist. I've actually had one of these refer someone else to me that turned out to be a very good client. I'm sure if I hadn't taken the few minutes every 4 or 5 months to call them it would of never happened.

>My gut feeling tells me that nothing beats the "in person" approach. But just in case is there an occasion where approach by phone would be better?
