Sometimes I wish a good third party would come along, but it the closest thing to that was George Wallace's American Party. I think they got around 12% of the vote. The facts are we are a 2 party system and each of those is shaped by their respective leaders.

The dems are shaped by the likes of Kenney, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Tom Daeschle (wait he's gone) the Clintons, the vast left wing, moveon.org, michael moore (i'd use even lower case for his name, if i could),hollywood, George Soros,etc. The repubs are shaped by the legacy of Ronald Reagan, the Bush family, Rush Limbaugh, Wall Street, the heartland of the US,the Christian right and conservativism.

I don't see the dems moving toward the right and I certainly don't see the president moving to the left. Our country is on the verge of moving toward sanity (yep that's my opinion) because we now have a larger majority in the house and senate and also control the white house. On top of that Daeschle was defeated so the filbustering should abate. The Supremes will be much more conservative and soon. All the appellate court judges that have been held up will be flowing through soon too.

I hate that those who backed the loser feel bad today, but I guesss the pendilum is just on our side right now. I recall how miserable I felt when slick willie was elected. Terrible feeling, but I got over it. The bad thing is that president Bush won't have nearly as interesting a presidency. Clinton had people dying all around him, women, cigars, money, IS, china, milk factory bombings, etc. That all made for great news stories.
