If that is true (I have no reason to doubt you), we've all said things we regret. Maybe he was over zealous christian back then and said something he shouldn't have and regrets now.

He's only human. I generally give people BOD for their mistakes in their youth. I don't think people really mature until they hit their 40's. :)
