Wow, don't know how I missed that one. He has been slammed because catholics regularly attended his crusades and he had Roman Priests on hand at all of them for counseling. He received an honory doctorate from Catholic priests at Belmont Abbey College in the 1960s (it was printed in the Gazette paper in North Carolina). He quoted the Pope on a Phil Donahue show in the late 70s. He stated the pope was almost an evangelist in the Star newspaper in 1979. He has been accused of being an evangelist for the Church of Rome by Quebec Baptist Missions.

Did his comments about hating Catholics come later on? I have never heard them and it would be totally out of character for Billy Graham given his history.
