I see the same as Fred, although I was able to set up a "rule" to change that whenever I press the ":", word replaces it with ": ", may be you had this set up with Outlook? (I do not use Word as my Outlook editor)
I set up the rule this way:
Word -> Tools -> AutoCorrect options -> AutoCorrect Tab (default tab?)
Replace ":" with ": "
(no quotes)
