We are currently developing a web app with a MYSQL database on a hosted server.
We are trying to connect to the hosted mysql database with the MYSQL ODBC Driver from our office. When we try to connect locally directly from the host (using localhost) there is no problem.
We added external IP's we can connect from to the mysql,using the mysql administrator but it refuses to accept any of them.
The problem is not a firewall problem because whenever we try to connect from another computer the 'aborted connects' counter is incremented.
Also, when I try to connect via the ODBC from the same computer, but using it's IP (instead of localhost) it also refuses the connection.
I tried to figure this using the MYSQL documentation but I got nowhere. What am I missing?
