I really don't see the threat to marriage posed by gay marriage. The biggest threat to traditional marriage is divorce IMHO. As far as Gay marriage is concerned, if you don't want to marry someone of the same sex, DON'T. It is simple as that but don't change the Constitution because of the irrational fears and self-rightious beliefs of a segment of the population! In Kentucky, they passed a change to the constitution that states that "only marriage between one man and one woman shall be a marriage in Kentucky and any legal status identical to or similar to marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized." This is a little over the top as far as I'm concerned. I read it as to make civil unions, health care surrogate POA, joint ownership of property and any other legal contract void if it is "similar to marriage" between unmarried individuals. I was really surprised that it didn't go as far as to require that you be married in a specific church by an ordained minister. What a crock, exploiting the bigotry of a specific homo-phobic group of people. Get the religious homo-phobes to the polls to vote to ban gay marriage and while they are there, vote for Dubya. Effective strategy that worked. Exploiting fear, prejudice and intolerance will win over reason every time.

BTW, I won't hold it against you for how you voted if you don't hold it against me for my choice. I'm satisfied with my choice. I hope you and others who voted for Bush are as satisfied with yours during the next 4 years.

>Thanks for quoting this one. Perhaps I am war-mongering neo-con on Iraq and the war on terror. And I voted for Bush ( choking back my gag reflex as I considered some of the people whom his victory would please - but simultaneously glad I wouldn't have to see that pompous phoney Michael Moore do a happy dance ).
>
>But I enthusiastically campaigned and voted against Ohio's Prop 1 - the most narrow-minded of its type in the nation - which somehow held as a premise that the only way you can get people to marry those of the other gender is to make it legally impossible to do otherwise. Funny, I really don't recall deciding I liked girls because I was afraid of breaking the law. <g>

>Marriage may need protection but it probably needs protection from the example of Brittany Spears more than that of Ellen DeGeneres.

>>>But the biggest difference my friend is that the Koran/Quaran actually endorses killing of "infidels". Did you not read the document released by Al-Queda recently.
>>
>>Religious fanatics and extremists can interpret similar things from the Bible if taken literally and expanded to cater to their way of thinking.
>>
>>This is old and a little off topic but it illustrates in a satirical way why literal interpretations and extremist thinking can twist the Koran or the Bible in ways that are truly bizarre.

>>Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to
