Thanks for all the info this is something that I will put a lot more thought into next time I have to use it. I have attended some courses (quite a few years ago now) where it was highlighted as being very importent to add an index on deleted (and read documents books which back this up) and thats basically what I've always done.

Thanks for all the input this wasnt my thread but I've certainly learnt something.
