>We have a POS and Inventory control package that we market to a few specialty markets. We would like to offer our customers the ability to have a web presence that interacts with their database. For example, the retailer (our customer), could then allow their customers to go to their website and pull up invoice history, repair history, make rental payments, view instructor availability for lessons, etc.

>We are looking for a "website" package that could be very flexible. Allowing each retailer to customize colors, logos, categories, layout, etc.

>We're envisioning that we would host these "websites" rather than the individual retailers hosting them. When their customer clicks on a link, "View History" for example, this would make a call to a web service that sits on the Retailers computer that could access the data locally and then package it up in XML or whatever and shoot it back to the Website for displaying to the customer.

Sounds like you might be interested in Web Connect from WestWind. WWW.west-wind.com . I recommend the product highly. There are a lot of consultants out there who can help you get over the learning curve and then you can do your own thing. You might want to post a message on their message board. In the meantime, you can download a shareware copy of the product for evaluation from their website. I've got several websites running this and 0 complaints. It's fast and mostly written in VFP by Rick Strahl. Do a google search on him for background.
