Did I say anything against the Lada? I just mentioned that we used to see them in UK. We used to have a "Muscovich" back in the 70's, as a second car. I think it was like a Lada (which was a Fiat body? - Fiat sold their body presses to all the eastern bloc back then I think). Anyway, back when cheap UK cars were struggling to have heaters in them, and only rubber mats for carpets, this had carpets, intermittant wash-wipe, all mod cons. Only trouble was you had to get a letter from Bresnev to get the parts if it went wrong! :-)

Same people used to denigrate Skodas (don't know if they're in the US) but they're quite swish nowadays. used to be a joke:

Q. What's the difference between riding in a Skoda and having sex with a sheep?
A. It's embarrassing being caught getting out the back of a Skoda.
