I'm not sure I understood you true; you cannot define modal window. you have to use "read modal" command at classic procedural programming with foxpro.

define window w1 from 1,1 to 10,50
acti wind w1
@1,1 say "sample 1" get sample1 default 0
@3,1 say "sample 2" get sample1 default 0
  read modal
