People used to justify importing slaves with a phrase like,"They enslaved their own". Dixiecrats (recently morphed into the evangelical right) use to say it all the time when confronted with issues of racism.

Justifying a crime, or at the least, diffusing a crime, by calling the victims "animals" or according the victims a less than human stature because of a "understanding" or "mis-inderstanding" of a remote history is a tactic we hear all the time.

Like our government when confronted with our attrocities in Iraq, and of couse red-state supporters of those attrocities, will attempt to excuse it with "weel, at least we're not as bad as Saddam ..."

Truth is - the evidence aginst Saddam is thin at best. The "so-called" mass graves have been shown as a result of the Iran/Iraq war or a Kurd against Kurd rebellion while the Kurds were under protection us US no fly zone.

There are no exuses for War Crimes. There is no moral or scintific basis for the Eugenics of Creationism (or Evolution by Design), which has always been a justification for slavery or tyranny. Add eugenics to a phrase like , "well they enslave their own - so we can enslave too" is no excuse for setting aside human rights.

Iraqi fighters are the Iraqi resistance. They are opposing an illegal invasion (unless someone has a legal argument that gives the US a sanction to kill over 100,000 Iraqis since March 2003). Just because it's "our guys" in harms way doesn't excuse what is looking more and morlike war crimes.

There is still slavery in the US. It centers around a Creationism/Eugenics/ Polgamy cult in the US. Recently, the Utah attorney General decertified the Police department in Colorado City (Utah):

You don't see this stuff on FOX or CNN - Just like CNN ain't showing the civilian dead in Falujha! Maybe instead of waving flags, we should wave the constitution!:)

Just because someone wears a uniform or is a public official - does not mean they are above criminality. Remember this as you watch the corporate news on CNN and FOX as it relates to Faluja. If you have the CBC or NWI or the BBC - or Aljazerah, you will get a more accurate picture of events/

>>One reason the rest of the globe might see things opposite the way we see them is that have tasted war. They smelled it and saw the reduction of neighbors and towns to so many pounds of burger. Another thing that is different is that they don't have a corporate media (like we do in the USA - and yes, Tracy, we have a corporate media) whose fortunes are tied to multinationals that want to sell bombs or acquire the resources from others an minimal licensing (bribe the leadership) or none (invade the country - US taxpayer then will buy the bombs).

>>I am not trying to convince you of this truth. Time will do that. But you need to prepare yourself because we as americans will have a lot of work to do when the truth finally comes out.

>>Being American means assuring our government is not being privatized or outsourced. We are citizens of a republic before we are a marketplace of consumers. Don't forget that! It's our responsibility to question our government and to make sure they are acting ethically, in the interests of peace and the world we all owe our descendants. We are the government. Washington DC is where the clerks work that write up the contracts, receive our taxes and pay the bills. They work for us. They are not better than us.

>>You should read this short essay about the bombing of a village in Spain under Francos (WWII) rule. It's short. Read every word.
