Hello Kevin,

I restored my previous version (production) and began rebuilding placing the new code in piece for piece until it started breaking.

I learned a very valuable lesson, don't mess with the EnableViewState property! Leave it set to true! I don't understand how this relates to the events not firing correctly, but once I set all of my controls, forms and user controls back to EnableViewState=true things started to behave more reasonably. The objects also persisted correctly.

Would this be a good topic for your "Creating Web Forms Applications: Web Forms FAQ" section of your help file? :-)
