>Hello
> I am running a VFP 6 application that for the most part works fine. In the invoicing module I have used the report writer to create the invoice header and details of the invoice. The description for each item on the invoice is stored in a memo file. In the detail band of the report writer I have placed the memo file needed. I receive a "string too long to fit" error when the descripton exceeds 4 or 5 lines. I thought that in a memo file this error would not occur. Does this have something to do with the "set memowidth" command? Is the report writer trying to digest the whole memo as 1 string and hence overflowing the 255 character limit? Suggestions appreciated.

Hi Carmen,

Check the format for that report field in the Report Expression dialog. It has to be empty to allow more that 255 characters.
