>>If I'm not mistaken, VFP's DevCon is co-sponsored with Advisor Publications and Microsoft. Likewise, Advisor has a DevCon for VBA/Office/Visual Basic that is co-sponsored by MS. Also, there is VBITS which is Fawcette Technical Pubs and MS.

>The DevCon was formely held by Fox Software until the merge. Then, Microsoft handled it from then until the change when Advisor Publications took over the DevCon in the last one in Pheonix. It has been two DevCons since. One change is the conference has turned commercial and the spirit of the community changed a little bit. As for the quality of sessions and speakers, it is as good as before.

>>Don't get me wrong, I think VFP is a great product. However, I'm not going to sit idly by hoping that MS does their part to bolster the product. I do all I can to champion Fox where I work, but when the folks that are making the decisions question Microsoft's loyalty to the product, I don't have a leg to stand on.

The kind of consulting I do is usually focusing on implementing full blown database systems and there is just no other product actually I can use that will do what Visual FoxPro does. When the client as some concerns about what they heard from someone else saying to not use Visual FoxPro, I can easily adjust the situation and put things straight. Sometimes, we have to do some mentoring. The clients may have heard bad things from companies doing evaluations and articles but when they have someone in front of them that will tell them why they should use this for this and that for that, they usually listen and agree. I won't tell a client we should use Visual FoxPro to build an ActiveX control or any other things that should not be done in Visual FoxPro but when we're talking intensive database application, it's certainly a choice to consider. Just think about Desert Storms,
>Euro Tunnel and other full blown intensive database applications, when I talk about those applications to clients, they know we're talking about a serious product. I usually tell them also about the future. Microsoft made several statements and sometimes, we have to tell our clients what Microsoft told us. At this point, some clients are not sure Visual FoxPro 6 will be release. It's our job to tell them yes it will be part of Visual Studio next version. They are also more impressed when you tell them that Visual FoxPro 7 is under way.

How could I find out more about the big apps i.e. Euro Tunnel app, that were written in Foxpro ??? Are that magazine articles that describe them ???

Thanks,
