This may be a no brainer for most of us, but I've never tried to do this:

I want to load pictures, i.e., gif, bmp, jpg, etc. into a VFP database, either in a General or memo Field. Set the control source to the field in the table, and display the picture on a form.

Can this be done without having to save the file onto the hard drive and use an image object?
