I have an ATI card at home that places a "super" maximize button next to the regular button, that will allow you to automatically size the window to both desktops, if you are running the same resolution on both monitors. Unfortunately I can't do this at work, since I can't run the same resolution on both monitors. I find it is a hassle to manually size the window across two desktops, so I usually don't bother.
