>Terry,
If evolution depends on mutations please to explain to me how then it postulates progress? You are assuming that good mutations will outnumber or outweigh bad mutations.
Most mutations are not observable and do not meet the threshold of species change. Most specie changes require mutation and isolation. There is even a genetic indicator of who may be at risk of becoming an evangelical!:-)

Is that the observation of Science, or is it a matter of faith
You need a primer on scientific method:
http://phyun5.ucr.edu/~wudka/Physics7/Notes_www/node5.html

It must go something like this - All or almost all the mutations we observe are BAD

Mutations are not good or bad - they are not the result of a decision or implication - they are an accident.
Mutations that prevent an individual from becoming prey and enable that individual to reproduce could be good (nothing like food and sex!!!! - unless of course you spawned one too many bubba dubyas - then it's BAD:). Here is a simple mutation explainer:
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/mutations.html

Oh and yes, where did the single cell come from?

Lets see, before there were "moder cells" there were eucariotic (RNA wrapped reproductive DNA) organisms. A few billion mutations later we have the "modern" cell. A few billion mutations and repro cycles before, the ancesters of all cells looked like a virus - much simpler that eucariotic or "modern" cells.
Read any Hymen book on Comparative anatomy. Read on genetics and embryology. Maybe just a college (not them church colleges) class in biology will give yo the skills you need to get an understanding. Its more than learning our verses. You questions indicate you are pretty much out of touch with this stuff - I love science - I am a geek - what else can I say!!!!

Todd Rundgren offers a special verse:
A hand full of nothing
Is all that I need
It contains the plus and minus
of Everything
That shapes the world
I see before me
I was born to synthesize
I was born to analize and catolyze
I was born to synthesize.

You're human - earn your position on the food chain - go learn something - quit convincing yourself that death heavan is better than living earth on earth. Earth is heavan. The dead know one thing: it is better to be alive! Go analyze and synthesize man!!!!
Imagination is more important than knowledge
