I was aware that you visit the site as you've answered a thread for me before over there. It's just that I am sure there are C experienced developers on VFP who don't and I wanted some help so I posted this. David Frankenbach pointed me in the right direction towards PeekMessage() in Win32API. My problem was that my background processing stopped my window from repainting, my timer from working, and basically all visual functions did not work because the background process (scanning disks for files) was not 'windows-aware'.
