>Evolutionists put forth the position that the fossil record proves evolution. However, and I will admit that I am out of my depth here, this is in dispute.
The Pope doesn't see it that way:
http://www.cin.org/users/james/files/message.htm"Today, almost half a century after the publication of the Encyclical, new knowledge has led to the recognition in the theory of evolution of more than a hypothesis."
Second, read what the pope says about theories. They are never "proved" to be true beyond a doubt, so it helps to avoid that word in the context of science. "Supports" instead of "proves".
>Those who study this from my perspective say that the fossil record does not ever show evidence of intraspecies evolution.
So? You don't need a record a half lion, half walrus for evolution to be supported since that isn't how evolution works. Intraspecies specimens is a strawman.
>One of my objections to evolution is that it appears to have taken over the playing field, and it proponents shout down anyone who objects, frequently with personal attacks.
That's not an objection to evolution, its an objection to the behavior of evolutionists.
Sort of ironic though that you object to evolution, the theory that as new members of the environment emerge those most adapted to the environment survive and thrive, on the grounds that as a theory it has only recently emerged yet has muscled control of the environment.
