In VFP, can you have the same hot keys in different menu pads?

We've got an application with 8 major menu selections on the menu bar. Within each of those 8 items, we have multi-level drop-downs that we'd like to have a unique hot key at each level.

Now we can use the hot key on any of the sub-menus, but must use the mouse to activate any of the 8 items on the menu bar. At this point, the only thing that I can think of that is preventing the hot key from working is a duplication in one of the sub-menus. The top-level form is a custom form, and not the VFP screen.

Is there anything that would prevent the usage of the hot keys for the primary menu options in the menu bar?

Any suggestions/comments?

Thanks,

Harry
