God ultimately, of course, if you like (I'm not disputing His existence, nor confirming it, just that He didn't create the Universe and all in it in 7 days, some 30-odd thousand years ago, in July). But, in the medium term, it evolved from a humble sausage, which itself evolved from left-overs after some animals had been cut oup, etc. :-)
