Staring in VFP8, (and this applies to the OLE provider as well), if you're using GROUP BY, you need to specify all columns in the GROUP BY that aren't aggregated. There is a setting for backwards compatability (SET ENGINEBEHAVIOR 70), though I don't know for a fact if you can specify that with the provider.
