Amazing how much I "Used to Know." Watching Jeopardy the other day without being able to answer the question it was a constant, "Oh yeah, I knew that!"

>Thank you! I used to know those words:)
>
>>>>BTW, were you testing her knowlegde of what alliteration means? While "Big Brother" DOES happen to be alliterative, somehow I don't think that weally was the word you wanted. :)
>>>
>>>I don't remember what alliteration means - I was shopping for a term (maybe "alludes to" or "references") that expressed the connection of "Big Brother", the phrase, to Orwell's 1984. I thought the term was alliteration. I don't usually dictionary when I rant:)
>>>
>>>Help me out if you can.
>>>
>>>PS
>>>Tracy is one of the coolest people I know. And, I must add, one of the very few that expresses undeserved civility towards me!
>>>
>>I don't know Tracy except through her posts here. And I have to agree with your opinion about her. Don't always (more than likely usually) agree with her views but she's one of those who usually don't resort to gratuitous slams. Which was why I was surprised to see you asking if she knew what the reference to "Big Brother" was. I would have taken that as a given.
>>
>>"Allusion" is probably the word you wanted.
>>
>>Alliteration is a form of rhyming where words in succession (or close proximity) begin with the same first letter. (Hence the weally was the word you wanted bit)
>>
>>>And now she's going "RIGHT!"
>>
>>Keep up the good work. Maybe you can still salvage her??????
