Not so everywhere. I was taught that it is just a 'theory' (Wisconsin in the 70s) and so was my daughter in the public schools of North Carolina just last year. Not much to say about North Carolina public schools except at least they are getting that much right.

>The problem with the 'Theory of Evolution' as it is taught in American Secular Schools is that it is not viewed as a theory, it is presented as a fact. If you get into a discussion with a high school biology teacher and begin to present problems with the theory, the answer that you will probably get back is that modern biology is based on this theory and therefore it cannot be questioned. If you take the time to do any reading on Evolution you will know that there are tremendous arguments inside the scientific community about all aspects of the theory. None of this reaches the level of elementary and secondary education, and very likely little reaches the common college student. Therefore, there needs to be a warning that what is presented in these books is just a 'theory' and to a great extent does not agree with the current scientific accessment of the theory.

>By the way, all the bashing of fundamentalists is a big turnoff. Too many opinions without much evidence.
