>I am a technical manager who's been searching for VFP programmer's now for about 6 month's in the detroit area. I myself have been programming VFP since it's birth. We just cannot find any VFP programmer's. We have to consider a new approach.. maybe VB, and Access or PowerBuilder. I want to hear from some people in the same situation who can tell me of their success or failure with VFP. I feel as if we're heading down the road to no where with VFP, and pretty soon they'll be no turning back.

I've been following this trend for sometime now. Nationwide, it seems to be pocketed. For example, here in Salt Lake City, I get calls from head hunters at least once a month trying to place VFP developers. That doesn't mean there isn't work....there are several VFP shops here. You may have to do a couple of things to get people. 1) Increase salary/benefits 2) Thechnical people are often lured to high-tech jobs, so you may need to move to the cutting edge of technology to lure them 3) Do a nationwide search and pay someone to move there.

IMO, you should avoid PowerBuilder and Access. Access has many brickwalls that you'll quickly hit and I've heard too many horror stories of people using PB.
