I think the answer is very simple: God did, as the creationists claim, create the entire universe in just seven days. But, being omnipotent, he created a universe that was already 14 billion years old! He is God after all so nothing is impossible. And there's your answer .... although it would beg the question why God wishes to decieve us about the true age of the universe? mmmm ...
