Well, you've got to remember, this started with just a two sentence post where I was trying to get "the word" on why there was no letter from Ken. Yes, it is wanting to have it both ways when I say "I hope it comes out fast and I hope it's stable." Although I didn't say that in my original post, I did say that later (and realized what I was saying). Craig pointed that out with no particular judgement on it and I - jokingly - said "I'm allowed to fantasize". So, yes, your "taking it further" did kind of irk me, so I pushed back a little. Hopefully, we can put all of that aside. I, too, apologize.

I have downloaded the VFP 9 beta. The errors I mentioned are in VFP 8 and still in VFP 9 (the public beta at least). I have no idea if they will fix them and, as I mentioned, Microsoft won't tell us. We just have to have our own repro code and test it ourselves.

There *has* been a lot published. I was reviewing Code magazine's VFP 9 Focus issue just today. Is anything Ken might say going to relieve my tension? Well, if he said "Russell - we've fixed that bug where VFP just moves the record pointer on its own and we've fixed the 2072 bug and, by the way, we're going to start releasing a bug list and bug fix list on every version" then, yes, it would relieve quite a lot of tension. <g> But in all seriousness, I don't know what he might say, therefore I don't know if it would relieve any tension. I was just hoping for something to make me feel better. That's not a crime is it? A client had just contacted me about some of these issues and I was a bit frustrated and uptight about these bugs, so I was looking for a little salve.

Have a good one,

Russell

>I am actually sorry if you were offended. The point I was trying to make is at this stage of the game, I really think it's in everyone's interests that they focus on getting the product finished. Managing the development of a commercial application is very difficult.

>I'm curious - have you downloaded the VFP9 beta? Have you worked with it? What specific problems have you been encountering that you are hoping will be fixed?
>
>Given what's been published up to this point - in the brief period between now and when the product is released, do you honestly think that anything said is going to 'ease your tension?' Has any previously published letter eased your tensions?
