Is the network EXE read only?

Gary

>I've written an application in VFP 9 and placed it on the network. As in past versions, we planned to access it with shortcuts to the shared drive where the .EXE was located.
>
>This worked fine in early development, however, as work progressed two things began to happen:
> 1. We started getting error messags that the .EXE could not be opened because of access violations when more than one person watned to run the program. My belief was that when running in this fashion, the exe was moved to the client machine and executed locally, so this makes no sense.
>
> 2. Then we started getting the mesage that "Resources could not be loaded." I scratched my head at this one, since it was the same .EXE I had run on Friday.
>
>Both problems were solved by installing the .EXE along with the runtime on the local machines, but this could make maintenance a nightmare, since we have 100 workstations to maintain.
>
>Since I didn't run into this with ver. 6,7 or 8, I'm inclined to believe it is either a Beta 9 bug or a change that was made in 9 but not yet documented.
>Or maybe there is a better explanation. Anybody else experience this? Any enlightenment?
